'Failure' is the lead single from the album Dark Before Dawn. It was released on March 23rd, 2015.
(I haven't included the back-up vocals in the last chorus because I can't tell what they're saying. The first two words sound like 'sun', then the third sounds like 'failure', and the fourth sounds like 'so long', so I'm not sure yet. Hopefully Dark Before Dawn comes with a comprehensive lyric book )
I feel like 'Failure' was the perfect song to introduce the fans to this new era of Breaking Benjamin. It sounds like a song wedged between Phobia and Dark Before Dawn - like a traditional Breaking Benjamin song. Everything about it is familiar, from the lyrics to the song structure, right down to the chord progression. I can't even begin to describe how happy I was to hear it when it debuted on the radio. I spent ages listening to ads and traffic reports from a country I don't even live in so that I could hear it. haha. But when it did play, it was like I was transported back to when I was fourteen and I was discovering Breaking Benjamin for the first time, and that is such a wonderful feeling.
Lyrics:
Life will come our way, it has only just begun
The world will die alone, the frail will fall below
Time will take our place, we return it back to one
The calm before the cold, the long and lonely road
Look for the light that leads me home
Tired of feeling lost, tired of letting go
Tear the whole world down, tear the whole world down
Failure
Drive the cloud away, we will fall from last to none
The dark before the dawn, the war will carry on
Look for the light that leads me home
Tired of feeling lost, tired of letting go
Tear the whole world down, tear the whole world down
Tired of wasted breath, tired of nothing left
Tear the whole world down, tear the whole world down
Failure
Tired of feeling lost, tired of letting go
Tear the whole world down, tear the whole world down
Tired of wasted breath, tired of nothing left
Tear the whole world down, tear the whole world down
We bury the sunlight, we bury the sunlight
Failure, failure
We bury the sunlight, we bury the sunlight
Failure, failure
Failure
Failure
